Dear Ex-boyfriend,
Hello you :) I know we talk a lot now but there’s always going to be some things I never really tell you. Like, I regret every day waking up knowing that I’ve hurt such an amazing young man. All you were guilty of was loving me and I know I broke your heart. For that, for every time I’ve pissed you off by correcting your spelling, and for every time I’ve had to tell you I’ve moved on, I’m sorry. Maybe you’re better off with her - it sounds like you’re a better match for each other than we were. And she seems nice. Just don’t rush things, and I think you’ll both be fine.
The other things I’ll never be able to tell you include the fact that you scared the shit out of me when you said we’d be together forever. I was fifteen. That might have been a bit too young for that kind of talk. I still regret hurting you. But I don’t see what I could have done differently. I tried to talk to you about it but you wouldn’t listen.
